TSCM Equipment

Most TSCM companies use a variety of equipment.

Beware of TSCM experts offering to conduct a sweep with little more than a black box with flashing lights.

There is no 'magic' black box to find bugs.

Even the best TSCM equipment will not detect bugs in the hands of a novice.

A good TSCM team will be using at least the following:

A scanning countermeasures receiver (Scanlock M2)
A good quality spectrum analyser (Hewlett Packard or Advantest)
  Communications Receiver
A non linear junction detector (NLJD)
  An differential RF detector
A quality telephone and telephone line tester
  A quality cable checker
Thermal Imaging and X Ray in specialist cases.

This equipment alone will cost in the region of £ 50,000.

Artemis Security Solutions Ltd use all of this equipment with the addition of a few little techniques of our own.

It would not be appropriate to publicise these techniques and give the people carrying out commercial bugging operations an insight into our detection techniques. This could enable them to make things more difficult for our sweep teams.

Unlike many other TSCM companies we do not believe that the bugging threat ends at 5 Ghz, the upper limit of the Scanlock M2. We sweep up to 18 GHz, which involves the use of sophisticated and expensive spectrum analysers. Most other TSCM companies are reluctant to make this sort of investment.
