Radio Frequency Bugs

Radio frequency (RF) bugs are the most popular way to bug an office or room.

RF bugs are:
  Cheap
  Easy to install
  Easy to conceal
  Easy to operate
  Deadly effective

RF bugs work by transmitting the audio within a room away to a distant listening post (LP) using a radio carrier frequency.
Most devices work over a relatively short distance; up to 500 metres.

Specialist high power devices may well work over greater distances up to 1000 metres.

RF Bugs operate of batteries or even better from the mains electricity supply. By connecting the RF bug to the mains electricity supply the buggist never has to run the risk of changing the batteries.

Who plants RF bugging devices?

  Competitors
  Disgruntled employees
  Business partners
  Private Investigation Companies
Cleaners (on behalf of any of the above)
Contractors (on behalf of any of the above)
Security guards (on behalf of any of the above)

It takes just seconds to plant an RF bug.

Cleaners, contractors and security guards have all been targeted by unscrupulous individuals to plant bugging devices on their behalf.

Many cleaners, contractors and security guards are paid very low wages and when the offer of a quick and generous lump sum for just 'plugging in a mains adapter' comes along......

Just consider the damage that a bugging device like this can cause in the right place.

Cordless keyboard? This keyboard will transmit all your keystrokes including passwords at a frequency of 26.86 Mhz at a level of -50 dbm @ 1 metre. It would be possible to receive these signals from over 100 metres distance.

Trailing mains sockets are particularly vulnerable to the installation of RF bugs. It is very easy to install a mains electricity powered bugging device that will operate all the time that the trailing lead is plugged into the electrical supply.

No batteries to ever run out.
